for 1853, with round 7 1/2in. barrel, the top of the squared breech signed 'ADDRESS SAM'L COLT NEW-YORK CITY' with bracketed ends, applied white-metal fore-sight, plain cylinder with roll engraved indian fight scene and 'MODEL USMR', the serial number and 'COLT'S PATENT' within panels, open iron frame marked 'COLT'S PATENT', brass grip-straps and trigger-guard, smooth walnut one-piece grip and articulated under-barrel rammer, traces of finish in sheltered areas, some frosting to exposed iron surfaces and all matching numbers throughout
